What were your responsibilities as an intern?
As an intern, I should analyze and research the trending or emerging start-ups. At the end of the day, I should submit the article produced out of that analyzed data. That data may be regarding the startup’s launch, grounding, experiences, ups, downs, fluctuations in the market, and whatnot. It also includes all the statistical information regarding the firm’s investors and investment stages. The article should be neat, clean, user-engaging, and no false information included.

3-4 hours
Share your proudest achievements and how were you able to realise them.
Knowing about my hidden skills and talents is itself a very proudest achievement. All that credit goes to coronavirus. That’s funny, right? But, I came to know all my skills in the quarantine time. I am going to mention a few of those things here, which I have started to work with “zero” prior knowledge.
- I have built my own eCommerce website (RiceStores.in).
- I have applied and got enrolled in Machine learning internship.
- I have signed for two content writing internships.
- I gained control over programming languages, SEO and web development.
- I have concentrated on my physique.
- I came to know what relations and life are important for every one of us.
Still, I have many things to mention but are not so good to write them here. The best thing I have ever learned in this lockdown is “Invest in yourself, learn from your mistakes”. The job for your life is done..!!
What are the top learnings, skills and values that you acquired here?
During the time of the internship, I have realized that scheduling tasks are very important. I have learned very well to divide and organize things so that we have time and priority for everything every day. Gradually, I came to learn self-maintenance.
To keep it more detailed, let me describe my single day during this internship. I wake up at 7 am in the morning. As usual, spend the first half of the day in giving space to myself. I ride, roam, listen to music, visit friends, and whatnot. In some cases, while there is any immediate submission to be done, I shift all those activities to the other half of the day. It takes 3-4 hours to complete the daily task regarding the internship. Those 3-4 hrs again can be described as a group of separate tasks. First, I collect all the data regarding that day’s topic from all around social media and news articles. Then I’ll scribble them onto a piece of paper. Then, its time for arranging all that data in chronological order. Now the fun part, using all my skills I produce sentences that make the reader engage and interesting to read.

Let me share my story regarding this content writer career in brief. I am an author, speaker, programmer and entrepreneur too. Besides pursuing my B-tech, I work as a Search Engine optimizer at RiceStores.in and blogger at Devrushi.com. Being a technical student, I am passionate about technical stuff and content development. By the way, I’m good at programming in c, c++ and python. My first writing is non-intentional and is written out of pain regarding Disha’s incident in India. It includes awareness and self-defence importance. My friend posted it on WhatsApp and www.devrushi.com as a blog post. Within one day it gained huge response and popularity. Day by day I started to write such many blogs. My blogs have grown in popularity and have begun to generate income. In this way, my hobby turned out to be a profession.
What is your advice to those, who are aspiring the same or a similar internship?
Content writing is a very interesting role, but for only those who are interested in reading and researching new stuff. One should build capabilities like developing content (sentences), analyzing the topic, producing meaningful content, and many things that make a blog look more perfect. The target of a content writer is not only producing meaningful content but should make the reader more engaging and smooth going into further of your article.
Do not and never concentrate on data entry jobs. Never ever accept the internship offer which pays you for editing or pasting or rephrasing content. That ruins your capabilities. Instead of this thing, try to acquire a new qualification. Nowadays with the advent of technology, we can find many free courses on YouTube and many other platforms. Investigate them and try to enrol and learn.
These days it has become very common to offer work in the name of internships. That not at all good for us. Because payment is not only the thing that matters. TIME is all matters. If you spend all your time doing boring work in the name of the internship, you are wasting your precious time. Instead, switch to some other internship that assigns you interesting topics that develop you and your skills in all ways.
How can we (Friends, Family, YI Fraternity) encourage young students such as yourself to involve themselves in different opportunities?
No matter what everyone say to you when you are confident about your “self”- you are going to skyrocket in the near future. Do not listen to all the free advice you hear every day. Set a goal and work on it no matter how much time it takes. Never give a chance for people to show sympathy on you because those people want you to remain at that stage. Spend time in listening to experiences on YouTube, spend time on quora, minimize the time with social media. Just make every single hour of a day productive in some manner.
We at Young Influx would take this opportunity to thank Karthik for taking a leap of faith and sharing his impeccable story. We are humbled and grateful, your efforts mean a lot for the youth seeking growth and development.
