Sustainable Development Goals, also known as Global Goals have to be achieved by 2030 to ensure social, economic and environmental sustainability. Out of 17 SDGs, the third SDG is of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all of all ages. SDG 3 has 13 targets and 28 indicators.
Good health and well-being is a crucial factor for sustainable development. Good health means caring for the human body and to do every possible effort in order to prevent it from sickness. While well-being is a feeling of satisfaction with life which can be acquired by health, happiness, prosperity and many other such factors.
Promoting health and well-being is an important 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Pollution, natural disasters and environmental shocks are a few of the things that impact negatively and undermines health.
Infections and non-communicable diseases are burdens and emerging challenges that could hinder the progress of achieving this important aim of good health and well-being.
Nowadays, many health issues and emergencies are emerging like the COVID-19 pandemic and these issues require health emergency preparedness.
But, fortunately, before the pandemic, we have made significant progress and become successful in many areas like life expectancy has increased dramatically, infant and maternal mortality rates have declined, HIV and malaria deaths have halved. But more efforts are needed to fully eliminate a wide array of diseases.
More efficient funding of health systems improved sanitation and hygiene and increased access to physicians can help us in saving the lives of millions of people and achieving the required progress.
Yes! progression and development have occurred. But unfortunately, on the other hand, progress has been uneven. Some countries have made outstanding developments while many countries are left behind.
It is very important to address inequalities so that building good health can be possible for all. By strengthening the capacity of all countries especially developing countries, we can reduce national and global health risks significantly.
Health financing, research and development of vaccines, medicines for communicable and non-communicable diseases are some of the ways which can be implemented to ensure that everyone has access to quality health care.
Universal health coverage is essential for attaining the 3rd SDG goal. Healthy lives and well-being for all of all ages should be one of our priorities and responsibilities and significant attention should be given to good health and well-being on a global scale.
Every one of us should voluntarily work to provide people with physical fitness and mental stability so that hopefully everyone in this world lives a healthy and quality life with happiness and joy.
